The Yaburara people were deliberately targeted in February 1868. This genocide occurred over a period of eight days at numerous locations on the Burrup Peninsula and in the waters of the Dampier Archipelago. The acts of genocide which took place are referred to as the 'Flying Foam Massacre'.1
